(a)   The owner or harborer of every cat within the city shall cause the same to be registered in the office of the city clerk by giving owner’s name, the cat’s name, a description of the cat including the sex and a rabies certificate signed by an authorized veterinarian. The city clerk shall then register the same in a suitable book kept for the purpose.

(b)   Whenever any cat is registered the city clerk shall give to the owner or person registering the same, a tag stamped “Montezuma” giving the year in which the registry is made. Said cats must wear such tag at all times along with a rabies shot tag which will be given by the veterinarian at the time of the rabies shot.

The owner or harborer of any cat shall pay at the time of registration the same fees that are required for dogs in section 2-201.

All registrations shall expire on the first day of May of each year, and all cats shall be registered and within three days after any person becomes the harborer of a cat and whenever a young cat shall have attained the age of six months it’s owner or harborer shall cause the same to be registered.
